Feltings for Sale

ZestherZ are down this afternoon preparing for the fund-raiser at the Officers' Retreat.

We will be setting up stall at OR selling kacang puteh, tees, bags, crafts from needle and wet felting.

The girls spend the morning repacking the kacang and felting.

The theme of the fund-raiser focuses on GB One Chance project in Cambodia.

Other than the One Chance tee-shirts that we will be selling, there are also One Chance star accessories which each takes about an hour to make.

The greatest achievement of the day is the 10-hour master piece - the GB crest made from wet and needle felting. This will be framed and put up for auction on the first day of the Officers' Retreat.

Kudos to you girls.

Great work to all who contributed!

Hands-on Felting

Magaret and her group of trainers were down in GBC to teach ZestherZ how to do felting.

ZestherZ tried two types of feltings: Needle felting and Wet felting.

This will be part of our craft for our fund-raising project for our Cambodia trip in December.

We will also be mass producing some of these to be sold at the coming officers' retreat end of August.

Thanks to our trainers who spent the entire Saturday morning with us.

Now, let's have ZestherZ come out with new ideas and designs.

Promo Assessment

Finally, this year's assessment for promotion to warrant officer is over.

Each batch of ZestherZ will have to complete two assessments - one at the end of their first year and the other in the beginning of their second year.

The scores from both assesssments, together with their attendance at the regular ZestherZ meetings will be calculated. Upon passing, they will be promoted to Warrant Officers.

Assessments are hands on activities that test them on what they have learnt in the programme so far, leadership, facilitation, planning and leading skills.

One group was assigned to help at a junior company combine annual camp.

It is a new experience for the girls to be working with different age group, officers and culture.

The second group organised a full day ZestherZ training session which include classroom session on Conflict Resolution, mini Total Defence trail and a graffiti project.

The session ended 3 hours beyond expected time 'coz the group was determined to complete the painting that day. Now, when you enter GBC , you will be greeted with the ZestherZ graffiti on the 4Fs of GB.

Watch out for more exciting ZestherZ activities...

DANC3

Programmes run at ZestherZ is different from those in primary and secondary.

We acknowledge that post-secondary students look for different kind of activities, have a different mindset and have different needs.

At ZestherZ, not only do we want to match these needs, we want to train girls to be leaders that are equipped and have positive influence on those around them.

Hence, we are not just about sit-down sessions and drill.

DANC3 is one of such event. In May, we had a mini-dancathon. For an entire morning, the girls have fun with jazz dance, aqua-aerobics and belly-dancing. We are out to let the girls experience things that they have not tried before!

Suggest more of such activities if you have anything in mind!
